
Getting Your SIPA or Sidel Heaters Right the First Time
When you’re trying to keep heat consistent across a PET blowing line, the last thing you want to deal with is a heater that almost fits. You don’t have time to be modifying machine frames or hacking together a solution. That’s why we build our replacement heaters to be true drop-in swaps. Whether you’re still running legacy SBO models or you’ve moved up to the Matrix series, these just slide in and work. The nitty-gritty on fitment A “drop-in” replacement only works if the physical and electrical specs are spot on. We match the original voltage and wattage exactly. Why? Because nobody wants to deal with tripped power supplies or underperforming lamps in the middle of a shift. We also obsess over the quartz tubing dimensions. If the fit is too loose, you’re losing heat. If it’s too tight, the tube can actually snap as it expands from the heat. We hit that sweet spot where it slides in smooth but stays snug. What’s actually inside We use halogen-filled quartz to get that specific shortwave IR spectrum. In plain English: the heat actually gets into the PET preform instead of just warming up the air around it. Depending on your machine, we use R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re standard, sure, but we tighten the tolerances on the pin alignment. It means you can wire them up without having to fight the socket or force anything into place. Plus, some of our tubes have special coatings. This keeps the outside of the preform from scorching while the core is still getting the heat it needs. A quick reality check from the shop floor Here is the thing about high-wattage lamps: they give you the heat density you need for fast cycle times, but they come with a trade-off. Pushing more power through a small space puts a lot of stress on your cooling fans. If your ventilation is clogged with dust or grime, these lamps are going to burn out fast, no matter how well they’re made. Do yourself a favor. Check your airflow before you pop in those high-output replacements. It’ll save you from a premature filament failure and a lot of headache.
