If you’ve ever tried to swap out infrared lamps, you know that just matching the wattage isn’t enough. It’s not a simple numbers game. To really get it right, you need the heat to hit the preform in the exact same way the original lamps did. We spent a lot of time making sure our replacement lamps for the Sidel Matrix line mirror those original heat curves. The goal? Getting your PET preforms to that perfect glass transition temperature without accidentally scorching the neck or leaving the base too cold. The trick to a perfect match Getting those temperature curves to line up is all about the details. We’re talking about the voltage-to-wattage ratio and the actual physical size of the lamp. Here’s the thing: if a lamp is off by even a couple of millimeters, or if the voltage drops just a bit, you’ll start seeing “cold spots.” That leads to uneven stretching and, eventually, bottles that just aren’t right. We spec these lamps to match the original electrical load exactly. That means you can just swap them in and get back to work. No messing around with your oven controllers or spending hours tweaking your timing cycles. What’s actually inside We use high-purity quartz glass because the heat in a blowing process is brutal. To make them work, we tuned the internal halogen cycle for shortwave infrared emission. Basically, this lets the heat punch through the PET wall quickly. We also added specific coatings to bounce that heat back toward the preform instead of letting it waste away. It’s a simple drop-in replacement. It fits your existing sockets and wiring without you having to modify a thing. A quick reality check These lamps put out a lot of heat. While they handle the OEM profile perfectly, remember that running them at full blast puts a lot of pressure on your oven’s ventilation. If your cooling blowers are clogged with dust or starting to fail, that ambient heat builds up. When the oven gets too hot, it kills the lamps faster. Keep your airflow clear. It’s the easiest way to make sure your quartz doesn’t overheat and burn out way before it should.
