
Getting Your SACMI Rotary Blow Molding Lamps Up to Speed
When you’re running SACMI rotary machines, everything happens fast. Really fast. In a high-cycle environment, even a tiny bit of heating lag can mess up your PET preform wall thickness, and suddenly, your bottle quality takes a dive. That’s why we built our replacement infrared lamps to cut out that startup lag. We want your thermal footprint to stay tight and predictable. Why the speed matters To get the heat density you actually need, we went with a high-wattage shortwave quartz setup. Shortwave radiation just hits the PET plastic faster than medium or longwave options do. We also tweaked the filament geometry. The result? The lamps hit operating temperature way quicker. You can ramp up your production lines and get moving without standing around waiting for the oven to “soak.” The nuts and bolts We use heavy-wall quartz glass here. It’s tough. It keeps the tube from bowing when things get incredibly hot. As for the install, they’re standard drop-in replacements. You won’t have to mess with your wiring or swap out sockets. Plus, we offer specific coatings that bounce the heat back toward the preform, so you aren’t just wasting energy heating up the room. But a quick heads-up:double-check your voltage. If you plug a 230V lamp into a 400V circuit, it’ll pop instantly. On the flip side, if you under-volt them, you’ll end up with “cold spots” in your bottles and uneven heating. Not a good look. Real talk from the shop floor These lamps put out a massive amount of heat in a very small space. Because of that, your ventilation and cooling systems have to be spotless. If your blow-off air is restricted, the heat builds up around the lamp and kills its lifespan. It’s a simple fix, though. Just make it a habit to check your reflectors every 1,000 hours. You want that IR energy hitting the plastic, not the machine frame.
